Getting to Know Andi Syafrani, a Child from an Islamic Boarding School, the Jokowi-MA Lawyers Team

JAKARTA – The National Conference (Munas) of the People’s Information Center (LIRA) in Batam led Andi Syafrani, SHI, MCCL, CLA, CM, SHEELL to be elected as the new LIRA President replacing Ollies Datau.

This is my message to Andi Syafrani, “Nil volentibus arduum”, nothing is difficult for those who have the desire. This sentence was revealed by the chairman of the LIRA National Conference III, Frans Watu after closing the last plenary session.

The strength of LIRA as a Non-Governmental Organization is in its structure that uses a shadow of government, usually such as government structures down to the Village/Kelurahan level.

Then who is Andi Syafrani, SHI, MCCL, CLA, CM, SHEELL. ? Raised in a boarding school, the father of 3 children was born in Pontianak on November 25, 1978. Since being a student, an alumni of Seblak, Jombang (East Java) has been active in various campus organizations. Check out Andi Syafrani’s actions, as summarized by the MIO INDONESIA network.

Completed his formal education at the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Jakarta (2002), but had studied at the Faculty of Law, Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta (1999) and continued his Masters studies at Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia (2008).

Some of the non-formal education that had been passed, Certified Tax Lawyer Education (PKPPI), Jimly School (2021), Sharia Arbiter Education, Basyarnas MUI (2021), Curator and Management Education, Indonesian Association of Curators & Administrators (AKPI) (2020), Certified Mediator Trainer, Supreme Court (2018), Certified Mediator and Sharia Mediator, APSI-PSP UGM (2017), Certified Legal Auditor, Jimly School (2015).

Currently, the Founder and President Director of Andi Syafrani & CO Law Office, also has the task of being a permanent lecturer at the Syarif Hidayatullah Islamic University, Jakarta.

Started his career as Managing Partner, GIA & Partner Law Firm and ZIA & Partners Law Firm (2010-Group Head Consultant, Uvolution Indonesia (2011), Strategist, Akon Indonesia (2010). Not only being a lawyer, Andi is also known to be active in organizations, he has held several strategic positions such as Secretary General of the Indonesian Sharia Lawyers Association (APSI), Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees of the DPP Non-PNS Lecturer Association, Member of the National Sharia Arbitration Board of the MUI Center, Expert Council of the Study Center National Constitution and Legislation of the Faculty of Sharia and Law UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, General Chairperson of the Mambaul Hikam Islamic Boarding School Alumni and Santri Association, Chair of the Presedium of the Advocacy Front for the Indonesian Lecturer Association, Member of the DKI Provincial MUI Law and Legislation Commission, Deputy Chair of LDNU, Minister of Law and Security and Vice President of LIRA and is now elected President of LIRA 2022-2027

Andi currently has a Curator Certificate (AKPI), Mediator Trainer Certificate (Supreme Court), Sharia Mediator Certificate (APSI-PSP UGM) and Auditor Certificate (Jimly School).

As a lawyer, Andi often criss-crossed the Constitutional Court. Several regional head election disputes (Pilkada) that he handled always ended in victory. He has won many election disputes, so it is fitting for this young figure to be known as a legendary lawyer in the Constitutional Court.

It is still warm in our minds when the 2019 presidential election entered a dispute in the Constitutional Court. At that time the Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin pair appointed Andi Syafrani and 33 lawyers registered in the Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin defense team against the lawsuit submitted by the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiago Uno pair. As a result, the Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin team won the lawsuit.

Andi’s magnetism and skill when conveying his vision and mission in front of the LIRA National Conference participants were able to hypnotize the voters who were present. The Pontianak child who always looks humble with his trademark smile, was finally elected democratically.

LIRA’s National Conference III in Batam, Riau Islands has ended. His intelligence and experience as an activist are expected by LIRA cadres and the Indonesian people, whether they are able to bring big changes for LIRA to become a modern organization. We are waiting for the cabinet which will be drawn up with the formatur team.
